Let's start with some basic facts about the Hebrew language...

HEBREW 

  • Hebrew is the main official language of Israel.
  • It is one of the oldest languages.
  • It is referred to as ' the language of the Bible', 'the Holy Language' (in Hebrew לשון הקודש - pronounced - lashon hakodesh) and the ' native language of Israel'.
  • It has 22 letters. Five of the letters change their form at the end of a word.
  • The language has male and female forms of both verbs and nouns.
  • There are no capital letters in Hebrew.
  • Hebrew is written from right to left, however, the numbers stay from left to right.

NUMBERS -   Numbers are also in male or female depending on what the subject or object is. We will start from 0-20 using the masculine version. The female version basically changes the end sound to a "ah' sound. For example 3 shalosh (male) shlosha (female).

Well Done - Col Hacavod - כול הכבוד  (this expression is usually used as "well done" when somebody has achieved something. Literally it means "with all due respect"...almost like "respect to you" for achieving something.
